The Major League Baseball Players Association voiced a willingness to play a season under its March agreement with MLB after rejecting the league’s latest proposal to play a 60-game pro-rated season.

The MLBPA said it looks forward to finalizing health and safety protocols for the upcoming season with the league, and added that players are simply waiting for word on when and where to report to camp to play the season.

The statement comes in the wake of an overwhelming vote against adopting the league’s latest proposal. The union appears to be trying to strike a conciliatory tone after ugly negotiations to try to start a season. The players ultimately didn’t feel like they got enough out of a deal, particularly with MLB looking to get them to waive their right to a grievance as part of any agreement.

An agreement the two sides made in March allows commissioner Rob Manfred to schedule a season himself, and players will be paid a pro-rated portion of their salary. The union is making it clear that they’re comfortable playing under that agreement.
